Join artist Izabela Pluta and exhibition curator and Director, UNSW Galleries, José Da Silva for an intimate walkthrough of the exhibition 'Nihilartikel'. Together they will discuss new and recent works featured in the exhibition in the context of Pluta's expanded photographic practice.
Izabela Pluta is a Polish-born Australian artist who interrogates the function of photographic images. Conceptually anchored in the effects of globalisation and her own experience as a migrant to Australia, Pluta questions how things from one place fit into another and speaks to experiences of place in a changing environmental and societal condition. In 2019, Pluta was commissioned by AGNSW to create a significant new work for ‘The National 2019: New Australian Art’, and has recently held solo exhibitions at Spazju Kreattiv, Malta (2021); The Glasshouse Regional Gallery, Port Macquarie (2019); and Artspace Ideas Platform, Sydney (2018).

Presented in conjunction with Izabela Pluta: Nihilartikel at UNSW Galleries, 15 January – 6 March 2022. This exhibition presents new and recent works that query the concept of territory and explore deep time by fragmenting and reconfiguring materials that are both photographed and found.
