16/18-20 Goodhope St, Paddington
An exclusive opportunity to travel with the renowned Australian artist on a walk-through of his major new commission The Lacrima Chair (SCAF Project 24) – a site specific and visually compelling, immersive installation comprising sculpture and video. This is your chance to wander with Shaun through a mist screen and explore French philosophy before experiencing a rain of tears in your very own Francis Bacon inspired, editioned poncho. The Lacrima Chair is both metaphor and reality. Travellers also receive a personalised postcard capturing their trip.
7-9 pm at UNSW Galleries
Cnr Oxford St & Greens Rd, Paddington
The journey continues at UNSW Galleries with a one-night only performance of Gladwell’s surprising and stimulating Avant Garde Preparation Sequence (7.30pm). The evening includes a special viewing with the artist of Collection+: Shaun Gladwell (SCAF Project 25), a major new exhibition of the artist’s work focused on his interest in ornithology, flight and notions of the ‘double’. Curated by Dr Barbara Polla (Geneva) and Prof. Paul Ardenne (Paris), the exhibition includes selected Gladwell works from The Gene & Brian Sherman Collection alongside other significant pieces from Australian and international private and public collections.
