The Eye Still Seeks: Contemporary Art from Pakistan, a small group of artists whose work gives voice to deeply personal engagements with the Pakistani life, expressed in the lyrical mode that is the gift of the great Urdu poets. Like many cross-generational shows, The Eye Still Seeks bears traces of historical allegiances and trajectories. In the Pakistani context, a close-knit community of artists, many of whom have known each other as teachers and students, is counterposed with the rapid and dramatic events of five decades.
