Contemporary Art Studio with Abdul Abdullah

UNSW Art & Design graduate and Primavera at 25: MCA Collection Artist, Abdul Abdullah, is the next studio artist selected by the Museum of Contemporary Art for its educational program called The Contemporary Art Studio.
Contemporary Art Studio porgram offers opportunities for students and their teachers from across New South Wales to spend a full day with critically-acclaimed emerging Australian artists.The program was specifically designed to support each new generation in connecting with exhibiting artists and learning first-hand about their creative practices. The program also provides a platform for visiting students to explore newly considered ideas through art-making workshops and discussion.
Originally from Perth, Abdul Abdullah, works across the mediums of painting, photography, video, installation, and performance. He describes himself as “an outsider amongst outsiders” and he chooses to explore the experience of ‘other’ in society thematically in his work. While Abdullah is particularly interested in the experience of young Muslims in the contemporary multicultural Australian context, he says ultimately his art enables him examine universal aspects of human nature.
In Studio with Abdul Abdullah is a group workshop that sets a minimum and maximum number of students (15 - 30).
